Beer Bread

Serves 8-10
Patricia Carson
Newport Beach, CA

2 2/3 cups self rising flour (a must)
1/4 cup sugar
12 ounces beer (the stronger the flavor, the better)
1 stick butter

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a glass or ceramic loaf pan. In a large bowl, mix the flour and sugar. Add the beer and stir until just blended (be careful not to over mix). Pour the dough into the loaf pan and make a few indentations in the top. Melt the butter and pour it over the dough (it will coat the sides and bottom as it bakes).
Bake for about 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Best served hot from the oven or toasted.
